ABOUT
I am a Dublin-based contemporary artist focusing on expressive portraiture and figurative paintings in oils. With a background in social work and socio-environmental activism, my interest lies specifically in the human condition and individual experience. I enjoy oscillating between humour and vulnerability to capture moments that further human connection and challenge status quos. For me, the best thing about art is its ability to encourage social change, and I am passionate about creating work that does precisely this.
Currently I am studying at the RHA in Dublin, and I am in the process of building a body of work dedicated to women’s bodies and the female experience. Spurred on by a growing discomfort about the diet industry & patriarchy and its effects on women, this collection of paintings will celebrate women of all ages and sizes who dare to defy today’s oppressive, harmful and reductive norms and embrace their so-called “imperfections”. Whilst my approach is brave, bold and colourful, my process is thoughtful, inclusive and sensitively executed. By involving real women (+100 of them) in the creation of my work, my paintings retain a distinctly conversational element, and I am excited to facilitate further conversations by introducing the audience to this refreshingly female gaze.
